Due to the limited amount of fossil fuels and global warming problem, bio-manufacturing based on renewable biomass has been paid more attention. In this review, the contribution of systems biology and synthetic biology in bio-manufacture of platform chemicals like organic acid such as succinate, fumarate, malate, glucaric acid, pyruvate, phenylpyruvic acid, alpha-ketoglutarate and other platform chemicals such as 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid are reviewed. Finally, the trends of bio-manufacture for platform chemical are prospected.
