Climate change in the 21st century due to greenhouse gas emissions from anthropogenic activity represents a looming emergency. Warming of the planet with changes in temperature, precipitation, sea level rise, hurricanes, droughts, wildfires, and other environmental impacts are accelerating and contributing to deleterious health consequences including respiratory and cardiovascular effects due to air pollution, vector-borne and infectious diseases, food and water insecurity, and mental health disorders. The economics of climate change are a major consequence resulting from the warming of the planet.
