The carbon sequestration capacity of China's coastal wetlands is assessed, and its remote sensing monitoring and assessment methods were summarized and analyzed. Finally, the technological upgrading of the coastal wetlands in carbon sequestration capacity is put forward. On a global scale, the carbon sequestration capacity around coastal wetlands in China is not really high. In the northern peatland and the area with high coverage and growth of vegetation, especially mangrove in China, the carbon sequestration capacity is relatively high. Coastal wetlands principally exist between the tidal zones which was difficult to monitor. However, the remote sensing monitoring brings convenient to it. The remote sensing monitoring has been a fast and efficient method to assess the carbon sequestration capacity of coastal wetlands. Coastal wetlands has the potential carbon sequestration capacity. Improving the carbon sequestration capacity of coastal wetlands can reduce global CO_2 from the atmosphere, and ameliorate the global warming effect.
