There are huge amount of renewable energy resources located in Asian electricity sending areas, such as Russian Siberia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Xinjiang of China. For Asia-Europe intercontinental power transmission study, these areas have large potential of electricity exploitation and export with UHV DC transmission lines to load centers in Europe. Taking major influencing factors into account, such as energy resource reserves, local power demands increase, necessary construction period and economic competitiveness of power sources, as well as suitable delivery ratio of different power sources, electric power export potential analysis model is established for Asia-Europe intercontinental power transmission sending areas. Combining the amount of resources exploitable in all regions with development planning of sending-ends countries and areas, the upper limit of power delivery potential is given. Based on future development scenarios and potential assessment model, future Asia-Europe transcontinental power delivery potential of sending-end areas is analyzed under given conditions.
