To study the changes of plant ecological group and the basic characteristics of climate change over two types of grassland in Zhurihe desert steppe region, we collected the meteorological data and grassland survey data in the past 60 years since 1953 and conducted field survey in Zhurihe Town. The results confirmed that the average temperature in past 60 years increased 0.438℃/10a, and the average annual temperature was rising with a rate of 0.045 5 ℃·a~(-1). Since the middle of 80 s, the temperature increase was very noticeable. The temperature increased significantly in summer and climbed 0.4 ℃/10 a. On the other hand, the average precipitation decreased 12.43 mm/10 a over the past 60 years, and the average annual precipitation was reducing with a rate of 0.698 mm·a~(-1). The precipitation also dropped considerably in summer and decreased by 10.39 mm/10 a. Furthermore, the average precipitation reduced 10.4 mm/10 a in the growth season. As a result, the grassland species decreased, and the desert steppe species increased in Zhurihe desert steppe. The climate over the study area was drying and warming. The drought disaster was increasing and happening with increased frequencies, especially during the growing season. The grassland vegetation evolved toward sparse and desertification year by year.
