Aeolian-fluvial interaction is a common factor affecting arid landforms and earth surface process in arid regions. This paper selected the three typical river basins and deserts in the Keriya River Basin in the west,Mu Bulag River in the central area, and Xar Moron River in the east of north China to analyze the landscape pattern changes of sand dunes in the three river basins in recent 30 years. The results showed that sand dunes are mainly distributed in the middle and lower reaches of the three river basins. Landscapes in the three river basins from the west to the east pass through the mobile sandy land, both the sand dune patches and mosaic channels, and both the two formers. The dynamic changes of spatial pattern are different at the different reaches in the same climatic region: the unstable type in the upper-middle reaches, balanced type in the middle-lower reaches, and stable type in the tail reaches. The changes of landscape pattern of the two formers are relatively stable, but the landscape pattern of channel and sand dunes changes frequently in the reaches of distributary confluences and passes through the mobile sandy land. This dynamic change is mainly coordinately influenced by climate change. So the above-mentioned changes of the landscape pattern are related to the types and flow directions of the rivers, wind direction and topographical conditions.
