The marine sulfur cycle plays an important role in the global sulfur cycle.Dimethylsulfide(DMS)has been identified as the major volatile sulfur compound, which is active in the upper ocean, becoming one of hotspots of the sulfur cycle research all over the world.Because of its complex biological process and chemical process, the distribution of DMS in the ocean is strongly related to biological factors including phytoplankton, zooplankton, bacterium and environmental factors including light, nutrient and etc.The DMS processes including bacterial DMS degradation, photochemical oxidation,air-sea exchange and related parameterization schemes are reviewed in this paper. We develop a three-dimensional hydrodynamic module coupled biophysical and geochemical process of DMS in the East China Sea.Based on the model, the spatial and temporal distribution and air-sea flux of DMS will be discussed, then the contribution of DMS released from the East China Sea to the global warm will be qualitative assessed.
