Snow plays an important role in the climatic system due to its high surface albedo and heat - insulation effect which influences energy exchange between land surface and atmosphere. Due to its sensitive to temperature, snow is the indicator of climatic change and has a feedback effect on climate. Aba state is in the northwest of Sichuan province,located in the southeast margin of the Tibet Plateau. It is also the core of the Hengduan Mountains and one of the main pastoral areas in China. And with more and more serious and frequent natural or man - made snow disasters around the Tibet Plateau area,it's urgent to take action to figure out its change in temporal and spatial and the impact factors,which prone to occurring climatic hazards. So,based on MOD10A2 snow product,combined with GIS technique and statistical methods,we did research systematically on snow temporal and spatial characteristics in Aba state of Sichuan province from 2000 to 2015. Results shows that Aba county,Hongyuan county and Ruoergai county were of the top three areas with high annual snow cover,and the sum of these three snow coverages rate was over 30% of Aba state every year,which equaled to above 25 thousand square kilometers. In conclusion,it was obvious that snow coverage in Aba had seasonal and inter - annual change. At end,we fownd out the temporal and spatial characteristics in Aba state and gave powerful supports to do related research in other adjacent regions,such as climate hazards and environment change and so on.
