The TCs source information from 1971 to 2010 is used to study the characteristics of TCs generation source by using TCs Potential Impact Index (TCPI) and density clustering algorithm. It is found that the impact of TCs and the average TCPI in China have the characteristics of meridional fluctuation. The number of potential impact TCs near the east of Luzon Island and the north of the Philippines is high and the intensity is large near (140 °E,10 °N). TCs generated in 120~135 °E、135~150 °E regions mainly affected 10 provinces and the inland area of some provinces. The proportion of TCs generated in the Northwest Pacific during the 2001-2010 period was reduced, and that of general impact TCs was not changed. The proportion of high impact TCs was the highest between 1971 and 2010.
