Understanding the vegetation dynamics and its relationship with influencing factors is of great importance to enhancing the ecological environment quality of the Zhangjiakou-Chengde Region. This study explored the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of climate factors and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI),and then analyzed the correlation between them from 2000 to 2014.The results indicated that:1)The vegetation index in the Zhangjiakou-Chengde Region showed an increasing trend with a considerable inter-annual fluctuation as well as significant seasonal and spatial variation.2)The photosynthetic effective radiation and temperature experienced a decreasing trend in the past fifteen years, while the precipitation increased with obvious seasonal variation.3)At the seasonal scale, the correlation between NDVI and precipitation was the most remarkable in summer, however,NDVI is more closely related with the temperature and photosynthetically active radiation in winter. At the inter-annual scale, NDVI had a low correlation with photosynthetically active radiation, but it had a significant positive correlation with precipitation and a significant negative correlation with temperature.4)There were obvious differences among correlation degrees between NDVI of different vegetation types and the climate factors, while as for the same vegetation type, there is the highest correlation between precipitation and NDVI.All these results of this study can provide important reference information for responding the climate change and improving the ecological environment quality in the Zhangjiakou-Chengde Region.
