英文简介: One year after the historic Paris Agreement on climate change, this year's UN climate conference will focus on the way forward for implementation. IIASA experts bring the latest research on how to reach the ambitious targets set in 2015. This year's annual climate meeting has been designated "The COP of Action," following the adoption of ambitious climate targets with a binding agreement at last year's Paris meeting. IIASA research includes recent studies of how to reach the ambitious 1.5 and 2-degree targets set last year; research to support the national action plans, or INDCs that underlie the agreement; and the loss and damage mechanism which was designed to help victims of climate change impacts. At COP22, the annual climate negotiation conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), IIASA researchers will participate in several side events aimed at providing their expertise to policymakers. COP22 website IIASA researchers taking part in COP22 and related events include: Volker Krey, Reinhard Mechler, Pallav Purohit, Keywan Riahi IIASA participation in COP22 side events and related meetings 7 November - COP22 Side Event Perspectives and Options on Loss and Damage What would an inclusive framework to address loss and damage look like? The issue of loss and damage has gained enormous traction in international climate policy. However there is a lack of promising options for moving forward. This session aims to provide some clarification and debate of the challenges to inform and support policy options. IIASA researcher Reinhard Mechler will participate in this session, co-organized by Practical Action. 7 November, 15:00-16:30 Observer Room 8 12 November - COP22 Side Event Climate Change and Health in Indian Cities: Modeling the Impacts of Heat and Air Pollution and Potential Co Benefits From Mitigation and Adaptation. IIASA researcher Pallav Purohit will participate in this session organized by the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change. 12 November, 14:00-15:00 India Pavilion 14-16 November Low Emissions Solutions Conference IIASA Ecosystems Services and Management researchers will participate in this three-day conference, aimed at problem solving, brainstorming, and global co-creation to inform nations about the latest technology developments. It will bring together technical experts and world-leading scientists, engineers and innovators from business, academia, and cities, to share knowledge, exchange information, identify bottlenecks, discuss best practices, and prioritize future research in order to set common technological trajectories for a decarbonized economy as well as the transformations necessary in each sector. 14-16 November Blue Zone, Marrakesh, Morocco, COP22 17 November - COP22 Side Event Ratcheting up NDCs: Consistent national roadmaps towards the global objective of 1.5C and 2C Based on a collaboration of 18 institutes from Europe, Asia and the Americas, viable strategies for ratcheting up the NDCs, and their implications for sustainable development (SDGs) are presented. Specifically, we compare the effort across key countries, such as the EU, China, Brazil and India. This side event is co-organized with the Association for Development and Research of Sustainable Habitats (ADaRSH).
